How To Prepare Dessert In The Studio And Beyond
May 25, 2012

Preparing dessert in my studio? More precisely, “Preparing for dessert.”

First, make a plate…

Don’t worry, you can do that. Next, when it has dried just enough, trim the plate…

Now brush brown slip on the back then brush white slip over the brown…

Next, use a little bit of clay and attach a thingy…

Bend a small high temperature wire and poke it in the thingy…

Almost finally, carve something on the back through the slips…

“Almost finally” because the plate still needs to be glazed. I will glaze these plates just like these pretty bowls…

Now
You
Can
Bake
A
Cake
And
We
Shall
Have
Dessert

(This was posted expressly for my favorite baker of cakes;)

In The Studio…Finally

Have been spending a week plus at the farm.

Made it to the studio today. (My mateys thought I had fallen down at the farm and couldn’t get up.) Did some cleaning and rearranging. I installed an innovative containment system…

That helped.
Threw a few bowls…

Not quite time to glaze…almost…

Trying to decide if I should make more of this pitcher. This is the prototype:

It has six parts. hmmm…
I spent the bulk of the day tuning organs in Topeka. Sometimes the ceilings of churches make you feel like you are inside an upturned ship…
